2 emblematic days demonstrate CST’s ongoing commitment to the environment.

On the occasion of World Biodiversity Day on May 22, 2025, 50 CST employees and 50 members of the local population made a commitment to the environment. To launch the day, an awareness-raising message was sent to participants on the need to practice selective sorting and manage plastics, which are a real scourge in the area.

With a single step, the 100 participants covered several kilometers to collect waste. Spurred on by the momentum, several people joined the procession to help out. Dozens of bags of garbage were collected.

World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, celebrated on June 17, 2025, also had a major impact at Compagnie Sucrière du Tchad. Over 100 people (CST employees and the surrounding population) attended an awareness-raising event coupled with a play on the massive destruction of trees for charcoal production. 100 trees were planted around the Maison de la Culture and the secondary school to provide shade for local children. The massive commitment of CST employees and the local population demonstrated this desire to grow together.

Coupled with this organization, a training course was held, enabling more than 40 people to learn sowing techniques to encourage tree planting.

The event raised awareness among employees and the surrounding population of the need to respect the environment and trees. Most of the trees planted are fruit trees, which will be used to develop processing activities for local produce.
